On Wednesday night, the Los Angeles Clippers Lost to Denver Nuggets 130 - 116 at Crypto.com Arena. Nikola Jokic had one of the best performances of the NBA season, scoring 55 points and grabbing 12 rebounds.
The performance tied the league's highest scoring game of the season, which Oklahoma City player Shai Gilgeous-Alexander set in a double-overtime game in October. Jokic, on the other hand, was incredibly efficient, making 18 of 23 shots from the field, 5 of 6 from three-point range, and 14 of 16 from the free throw line to get to 55.
With 25 of Denver's 39 points in the first quarter and another 19 in the third, Jokic got off to a quick start. He sat for the majority of the fourth quarter and only returned briefly to increase his total to 55.
“I just tried to take what the defense gave me,” Jokic said after the game. “When shots are falling early, everything just opens up.”
Even though their star center had a great start, the Nuggets were down 10 points in the second quarter and 68-63 at the half. However, Denver grabbed control after the half and outscored Los Angeles, largely because of two runs scored by Jokic alone.
Denver's victory handed them their sixth consecutive victory and placed them close to the top of the Western Conference standings.
