Independence

Progress Kingdom makes editorial decisions in the public interest. Political, financial, personal, and commercial pressure must not determine what we cover or the conclusions our reporting reaches.

• News judgment belongs to editors.
• Advertisers do not preview or approve editorial coverage.
• Opinion, analysis, and sponsored material are labeled.

Accuracy and verification

Reporters verify names, dates, quotations, documents, figures, images, and the central claims of a story before publication. The level of verification rises with the seriousness of the allegation and the potential for harm.

• Use primary evidence when available.
• Attribute information with enough specificity to be meaningful.
• Represent uncertainty honestly.
• Correct confirmed errors promptly.

Fairness and context

Fairness does not require treating every assertion as equally credible. It does require presenting relevant context, accurately describing competing evidence, and seeking meaningful responses from subjects of substantial criticism.

Transparency

Readers should be able to distinguish fact, analysis, commentary, advertising, and updates. We identify authors, publication dates, material sources, corrections, and relevant conflicts.

• Link to public records when practical.
• Explain unusual reporting methods.
• Disclose artificial or altered media.
• Label paid relationships clearly.

Ethics and conflicts

Journalists must avoid conflicts that compromise—or reasonably appear to compromise—their independence. Relevant financial interests, relationships, advocacy, gifts, or outside employment must be disclosed to an editor.

• No payment to sources for news information.
• No hidden sponsored coverage.
• No trading on unpublished reporting.
• Respect privacy unless a stronger public interest justifies intrusion.

Feedback and accountability

We welcome good-faith challenges to our facts and methods. Editors review correction requests, right-of-reply submissions, and ethical complaints according to the standards published on this site.
