Advertising Policy

Commercial support must be transparent and must never control Progress Kingdom's journalism.

Last reviewed: August 25, 2026

01

The editorial firewall

Advertising revenue does not purchase favorable reporting, story placement, or protection from scrutiny. Commercial staff may discuss formats and audiences with advertisers but may not promise editorial outcomes.

02

Clear labels

Readers should know when material was paid for or influenced by a commercial partner before engaging with it.

  • Advertisements are labeled as advertising.
  • Sponsored or branded content carries a prominent disclosure.
  • Affiliate links are disclosed near the relevant content.
  • A sponsor's identity is not hidden behind vague wording.

03

Native and branded content

Paid material designed to resemble editorial content must remain visually and verbally distinguishable from newsroom journalism. It does not use a staff reporter's byline unless the role and commercial nature are clear.

04

Affiliate relationships

Progress Kingdom may earn a commission when a reader follows certain links or completes a purchase. Affiliate revenue does not change the price paid by the reader and does not guarantee positive coverage or inclusion.

  • Commercial links receive a disclosure.
  • News articles are not written to satisfy a commission partner.
  • Editorial corrections remain controlled by editors.

05

Newsletters, audio, and social platforms

Advertising in newsletters, podcasts, video, or social posts follows the same separation and disclosure rules as advertising on the website. Platform-native labels are used when available, but they do not replace our own disclosure.

06

Political advertising

Any accepted political advertising must comply with applicable law and carry clear sponsor identification. Acceptance does not represent endorsement, and the newsroom retains the right to report critically on the advertiser.

07

What we may reject

We may decline or remove advertising that is deceptive, unlawful, unsafe, discriminatory, designed to mimic an editorial endorsement, or harmful to reader trust.

  • False or unsubstantiated claims.
  • Malware, deceptive downloads, or data-harvesting schemes.
  • Hidden conditions or misleading pricing.
  • Content that conflicts with our safety and integrity standards.
